I’ve received quite a number of emails from customers over the weekend asking about the closure of Google+.

This email explains that the Google+ service will be taken down in April 2019.

If you got this, no it isn’t a hoax and no it won’t affect your email address after this date.

Google+ is a social media platform which quite frankly never really took off, and after a security flaw in Nov 2018, which could have exposed profile information such as names, email addresses, jobs, and ages of 52.5 million users without their permission, Google decided to shutdown the consumer version but will continue to develop and support the business version.

So if you’ve been a regular user of Google+, you might want to take note of the contacts you’ve made. If you’ve never used it, just ignore and delete the email.
