If you’ve got a HP laptop, then please DO NOT ignore this email.
Yesterday, a security researcher found an alarming piece of code within the keyboard software drivers that’s been pre-installed on specific HP laptops.
What does this mean? It has the potential to record every single key stroke you type on the keyboard which is extremely disturbing with the rise of online banking.
This setting is disabled by default, but it could be switched on if the laptop was accessed by an attacker.
As this security leak affects a range of 460 different HP laptop models dating back as far as 2012, I would certainly advise that you check the list in the following link and download the relevant fix (called a softpak) if your laptop is on the list.
PLEASE NOTE – This applies to HP laptops only and doesn’t include HP desktops.
